Who We Are

Running a contracting business isn’t easy. Between bidding jobs, managing crews, handling customers, and keeping up with regulations, there’s little time left to step back and think strategically about where your business is headed. That’s where we come in.

We provide business advisory services designed specifically for contractors. Our approach combines financial discipline, operational expertise, and industry know-how — giving you the tools to strengthen margins, streamline workflows, and prepare your business for long-term success.

We can work hand-in-hand with your existing partners — accountants, lawyers, and trade associations — to ensure every decision is aligned with your financial, legal, and operational goals. While they focus on compliance, contracts, and reporting, we focus on helping you translate those numbers and agreements into real business results.

Our mission is simple: help contractors run stronger, more profitable businesses. Whether you’re looking to improve cash flow, prepare for succession, or unlock the next stage of growth, we’re here as your trusted partner.

Who We Serve

We partner with owners and leadership teams of contracting companies across Ontario. Our clients range from established family businesses preparing for succession, to growing contractors looking to scale their teams and operations.

Whether you manage a 5-person shop or a 100-person company, our advisory services are designed to meet you where you are to provide the clarity, structure, and support needed to move your business forward.

Our clients usually fall into one of three groups:

The Growth-Focused Contractor

A business that’s winning more work than ever but feels stretched thin. You need structure around job costing, team management, and cash flow to keep up with demand without burning out.

The Efficiency-Seeker

A company that’s stable but knows it could be more profitable. You’re looking for better systems, workflows, and accountability to increase margins and make every project more predictable.

The Succession Planner

An established family or owner-operated business preparing for transition. You want to set up leadership, financials, and operations so the business thrives beyond the current generation.

  • Founder

With a background in mechanical engineering, Jack has spent years designing large scale HVAC and plumbing systems across Ontario, giving him first-hand insight into the technical and operational challenges contractors face.

Beyond engineering, Jack has built businesses in real estate, where he successfully renovated and managed multiple property projects. Leading these construction ventures meant hiring and coordinating trades, keeping budgets on track, and making tough decisions to protect profitability. These experiences gave him a practical appreciation for what it takes to run a contracting business — managing people, cash flow, and clients while still delivering quality work.

While pursuing his MBA at Ivey Business School in London, ON, Jack founded Ironwood Advisory to bring this mix of technical expertise, entrepreneurial experience, and business strategy to contractors. His mission is simple: help owners strengthen profitability today while preparing their businesses for sustainable growth and succession tomorrow.
